The Mall

Mall roads are synonymous with most Hill Station in North India. No matter where you go, you will always find one, and it will most likely spend all your spare time, walking, checking out the cute little stores and of course stuffing yourselves with delicious food.Shimla’s mall road is no exception to this rule. In fact, the mall road in Shimla is veryfamous for selling woollen clothing, beautiful local handicrafts and many other local delights at reasonable prices.

The Ridge

The Ridge is located in the heart of the Shimla city, in Himachal Pradesh. It is considered as one of the major tourist destinations. The Ridge Shimla offers a beautiful scenic view of the valley. It is a large open space, which is connected to the Scandal Point in the West and Lakkar Bazar in the east. The tourists can shop for various types of handicrafts made from timber wood. This place is famous for cultural events, fairs, and celebrations. At the Ridge, tourists can enjoy horse riding, ice cream, and photography in Himachali attire. Tourists like to click photos here. The Ridge Shimla has various government buildings such as HP Tourist Info Center, Municipal Office, and Himachal Tourism restaurants and bars.

 

Shri Hanuman Mandir

Jakhoo Hills is the highest peak in Shimla. The hill is 8000 feet high and one of the most popular Shimla Attractions. A trip to Shimla is incomplete without a visit to the hill, so don’t forget to include it in your list of Places to See in Shimla. You can’t take your drive all the way up to the top of the hill.

However, the short trek to the top is exhausting but fun. The winding walkaway is amidst a thick forest lined with tall and beautiful pine trees.At the top, you can capture the Himalayan Landscape in its raw and true form. You can enjoy uninterrupted Panoramic views that do justice to the surreal beauty of this Himalayan hill station. Once there you can visit the famous Jakhoo Temple.

 

Kali Bari Temple

Being one of the most ancient temples in the Shimla city, the Kali Bari temple is a temple of during 1845. It’s a faith that the temple is actually for the spine-chilling re-birth of the Goddess Kali, who is famous as Shyamala.

It is believed that Shyamala is the goddess that is said to exist near Jakhu. Besides that inside the temple, no idol made of soil is worshipped except for the presence of the wooden image who is worshipped as Shyamala.

To name a few, Bhavani, Chinnamawsta, Chamunda, Durga, Sat, Parvati, Rudrarani, Tara, Uma are some of the forms the Goddess Kali. Therefore actually they worship for the Goddess Kali. A huge number of devotees visit the temple during the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja and Navratri.

Advance Study

The Indian Institute of Advanced Studies should be on your list of Places to See in Shimla. Shimla is a testimony to the colonial past of our country and this institution built by the British is an integral part of colonial history.

The Institute formerly served as the official summer retreat of the Indian President. It was under the reign of Indian President DR. Radhakrishnan that the institute was converted into a research centre for the promotion and advancements of arts and humanities in India.

Tourists can visit the institute and its surrounding gardens and enjoy the marvels of the colonial architecture in India which make it one of the top Shimla Tourism attractions. The building is an architectural wonder in itself as it was built with a proficient fire system, that can rival any that exist in modern times.

 

Skating Rink

Ice skating normally begins in early December and carries on to February. Clear skies and low Ice Skating, Shimla temperatures provide series of uninterrupted sessions. There are two sessions every day, in the morning and in the evening. Ice Skating The ice skating season usually begins in the start of December and goes on till the end of February. The cold weather and clear skies make sure that people have undisturbed sessions of ice-skating. The sessions take place every day, twice a day in morning and evening. The rink also provides membership on short and long term basis. Basic equipments like skates, cap, kneepads etc. are available at the rink.
